Unable to type into search bar in Safari

I recently updated to Big Sur and now I’m having issues typing in the search bar in Safari. Say I want to go to Netflix’s website. I start to type in “ne” then it erases what I typed on its own. I’ve scanned for malware using Malwarebytes and it found nothing. Is the only thing I can do is do a fresh reinstall of Big Sur again?

1 Restart your Mac.

2. Launch Safari holding the shift key down and test.

3. Startup in  safe mode to try to isolate the cause of the issue.

  • Select your account and login.
  • Test.

To leave Safe Mode, click Apple logo   in the menu bar and choose “Restart”.

4. Safari > Preferences > Search > Search

Uncheck the box beside "Include search engine suggestions" and test.
