How do i turn off silencing completely? the two options are always, and when phone is locked.

How do i turn off silencing completely? the two options are always, and when phone is locked. there has got to be a better way to turn it off and back on. I am missing important calls and my phone doesn't ring / shows calls as Silenced even when my phone is unlocked. This clearly isn't working properly. I have spent quite a bit of time trying to fix this issue. Mark

On the Do Not Disturb page - There should be a universal Do Not Disturb switch which can be set to OFF. See image below and ensure that the switch is set to OFF. Once it is OFF then the options below it do not matter and are not active.

Also, did you review point number 4 in my previous response related to Silence Unknown Callers? I was not talking about Allow Calls from Everyone (Which is only active when Do Not Disturb is set to ON).

Check to see that Silence Unknown Callers is set to OFF. Open Settings Phone Silence Unknown Callers : Set this to OFF

Those options, ALWAYS or WHILE iPHONE IS LOCKED, are only active when Do Not Disturb is set to ON. If Do Not Disturb is OFF then those options are inactive and are not doing anything.

There is something else going on if you are missing calls even when your iPhone is unlocked. Below are a few things to check.

  1. Check to see that the Silent switch is not set to ON. Silent switch is located on the Top Left Side of your iPhone.
  2. Open Settings Sounds & Haptics Ringer and Alerts : Make sure this is not set to OFF or too Low. Set Change with Buttons to OFF. Below that Make sure that there is a Ringtone selected.
  3. Check to see that Do Not Disturb is set to OFF. Open Settings Do Not Disturb : Set this to OFF
  4. Check to see that Silence Unknown Callers is set to OFF. Open Settings Phone Silence Unknown Callers : Set this to OFF
  5. Make sure that a ringer sound is assigned. Open Settings Sounds & Haptics Ringtone : Ensure that a Ringtone is assigned here.
  6. If all of the above is OK on your iPhone then Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:
  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
  • Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF)
