Missing numerous important calls because cannot uncheck Silence while iPhone is locked or Always or anytime actually!

Unless you have Do Not Disturb turned on, the setting that you are describing does not go into affect. If you are missing calls, are these calls from people in your Contacts? If not, then please go to Settings>Phone>Silence Unknown Callers, and turn that off. It is a newer feature and when it was in the update, it was turned on by default. Any callers not in your Contacts will not ring. With it turned off, the phone will ring.

NOT TRUE for me: my Do Not Disturb is OFF, as is my Settings>Phone>Silence Unknown Callers, but Unknown Callers are STILL being silenced when my phone is locked. This is URGENT: I'm a cancer patient and have already missed 3 'No Caller ID' calls from my hospital today. PLEASE FIX

I'm sorry, but I cannot fix anything. I'm a user just like you. Apple does not participate here. That setting does not have any affect when Do Not Disturb is turned off. Something else is going on. Do you have an app from you carrier or the app store to filter unknown callers, or spam calls? Have you checked to see if the Mute Switch is turned on for the side of the phone to mute sounds?

So I don’t know if this is the answer or not but I was having the same trouble on my phone. When I looked through the settings on sound and haptics I turned on lock sound and that solved my problem. Again don’t know if that is what is happening on other devices but that’s what I did for mine.

Go to your phone settings and look for the green phone app and double check that you do not have the Settings silence unknown callers on because that is what I just discovered was my problem. I hope this is your problem as well and you get those much-needed calls from your doctor.

Does switching this feature to “always” help? I’ve just tried it. It’s in phone settings again
