Can I person have multiple Apple IDs

I have a personal apple ID. But I have two apple iPhones from two different companies I work with. Is there a way, I can have a separate apple ID for second iphone so that the devices remain separate for contacts, documents, imessaging etc. What I find is If I use the same apple ID in both phones, then all the things get merged in both phones. Thanks for any help.

You can have multiple Apple ID accounts.

And if you want to keep them separated like that, this sounds like the best resolution

But you might not be able to merge them in the future
