They were there yesterday or a few days ago because I remember opening that folder and replayed the audio files.
Where on a brand new mac can I store my files so they will never be deleted like this?
Some people have had iCloud Drive enabled without them doing it, so check icloud.com...
Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.
Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.
I'll try it but I don't use Icloud on purpose because it's like Satan, it gave me bigger problems. I even turn "find my iphone off" because of the issues it created. Icloud is off now. I'll try the shift method.

it didn't work. When I do the shift method, there are no files in the folder. And it says "alias" on the folder.
Did you log into icloud.com & see if they went there against your will?
All my files on desktop are gone
