old hp photosmart c4200 AIO working fine, then I got a message something "would damage my computer". no driver? Upgrade/BSur led to wiping everything

HP Photosmart c4200 AIO driver used with USB cable with MCB PRO. Recent upgrade to Big Sur. Don't want to get another printer, trying to lighten my "footprint" on the planet. Any ideas?

Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate you taking the time.

For now I have it on USB cable to MCBook.

The print dialogue box doesn't give me choices for fast draft, b/w any more.....Seems like it's kinda limping along.

I've looked for a driver at HP, they say they don't have one for it. Also looked up OS, and there is nothing showing most recent upgrade to Big Sur.....I did try an app from the App store, but it started a cascade of problems.....

Downloading and upgrading are two areas which are crazy scary to me, as I have ended up with the "prohibitory sign" more than once and had to skulk into store to get it worked out.

thanks, again

Debra
