How can I stop 2 iphones on the same apple account from syncing ?
iPhone 8, iOS 14
BARBART,
Thank you for explaining in more detail. Your iPhone devices are using the same account with iCloud Photos enabled. Any photos taken or deleted on either iPhone will be reflected on both devices. It’s essentially the same for your call history and all the account information and settings, so we can definitely see how this could become confusing.
If you find the Apple ID, try to reset the password or recover the account: If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support.
If you don't find it, you can create a new Apple ID here: How to create a new Apple ID - Apple Support
Manage Apple ID and iCloud settings on iPhone - Apple Support
Go to Settings > [his name] and scroll to the bottom to Sign Out of his Apple ID. You can then sign into your own on your iPhone.
It's important to keep in mind that your Apple ID syncs things like Photos, Contacts, and Calendars. If you need to save any of these on your iPhone go to Settings > [his name] > iCloud and disabled those features one at a time. When you disable them you should be prompted to keep the content on your iPhone. Then after you sign into your new Apple ID you should be prompted to merge that content with your new iCloud account. This is the best way to ensure you don't lose any important data.
If you have purchased content from the App Store, iTunes Store, Books Store, or other Apple store you may want to consider setting up Family Sharing.

Hello, BARBART.
Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. We understand that you have two iPhone devices that are using the same Apple ID, but you don’t want the content to sync between the two devices. If one of the devices belongs to another person the best way to keep the two from syncing is to use a separate Apple ID.
How to create a new Apple ID - Apple Support
If you prefer to use the same Apple ID, we may be able to help you disable some of the sync settings on one or both of them, but we want to be highly transparent in our advice that you should really only use one Apple ID per person. If you have two devices that belong to two different people, it’s very hard to keep the two from syncing in some form because your Apple ID is designed to allow continuity across all of your Apple devices. This website will show you a list of everywhere your Apple ID is used on your iPhone. Each of these services will show the same content across both of our devices if you use the same Apple ID:
Where can I use my Apple ID? - Apple Support
Warmest Regards.
ALSO, when I open settings, both of our phones have my husbands name and photo. I tried to change that by changing to my email address and it would not work because the email address for the apple account is a different email.
One of you needs to start anew with a new Apple ID.
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
Now, the invited family member(s) can download all the apps that the family organiser has bought without sharing Apple ID.
My husband and me each have an iphone and every photo that I take, also shows up on my husbands phone in photos. And our recent calls shows up on both phones. WE have one apple account and I thought I created a second account with a different email address, but when I try to open it, it says that the apple id or the password is wrong, and will only recongnize the one apple account that we both share. WE used to just be able to air drop to each other if we wanted to share, but now all photos show on both phones and if I deleat a photo I don't want it deleats it on my husbands phone also. Can I stop our phones from sharing, or how can I open a second apple account??
thanks
I think I need to go to an Apple store and see if they can help me do this!
Yes, they can do that for you.
