Problems with PDF Annotations in Preview When Dark Mode is Enabled

With dark mode enabled (on macOS Big Sur 11.2.2 (20D80)), some editing/creating PDF annotations in Preview.app is difficult. When underlining words in a PDF and adding a note, the background of the note is white. The text cursor and any text selections are also white, making it very difficult to use in Dark Mode. Is there at least a way to change the background of the note? The same problem arises when adding text annotations to any kind of file with a white background.

Here's a screenshot when adding a comment to a PDF. The selected text is invisible because the text selection is white on a white background.

I'd appreciate any pointers on how to work around the issue. I don't think there's a solution to this problem, other than Apple fixing their Dark Model problems all over macOS. It's frustrating that there's no way of reporting bugs to Apple. I'm just hoping there's somebody combing through these forum posts to collect bug reports. But I'm not very hopeful, seeing that there are quite a few bugs with Dark Mode which never got addressed and still annoy users 5 months after being reported here.
