How can I transition several family members from a single shared Apple ID to individual Apple IDs under family sharing?

My siblings, parents, and I have shared an Apple ID for over a decade. We each have several devices on it. We want to switch to Family Sharing under individual IDs, but we are concerned about the personalization we have on our devices and if that will be lost. For example, will things like playlists, notes, picture folders, and apps be lost when I create and switch to a new Apple ID? I understand that purchases are shared, but what happens to the customization of the devices themselves? Will we still be able to remain under a centralized payment method?

If 13 years old or older.

If under 13 years old, you will need to set up Family Sharing to create an ID.

When changing to the new ID, there may be some data loss, but you can minimize it. If syncing photos with iCloud, ensure Optimization is turned off in Settings/Your Name/iCloud/Photos and/or in Photos/Preferences/iCloud. Then make sure full resolution photos are on the device/computer. When signing out of iCloud, if asked whether you want to retain data, choose yes. Messages conversations will be lost if they are addressed to the ID. See the article below for other places that the old ID should be removed.
