iPhone's only support AirPint. If your printer is not AirPrint compatible it cannot be used.

If it is AirPrint compatible, follow the steps from the support document you posted from to Print. As long as both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, the AirPrint Printer will automatically appear in the Print option in all the apps on the iPhone.
