If I own my own phone , why depend in companies to unlock the phone , why companies locking phone after no longer provide service with such companies

They shouldn’t restrict the use of a iPhone if I am not longer want services with such companies that apple do business with such carriers

Phones which are locked to a specific network are usually cheaper than if purchased unlocked. Also it ensures that you’ll have to stay with the cellular provider after the contract has expired.

Most providers offer network unlocking either for free or for a small fee once the contract has expired.
