MMS not sending in Messages

iOS 14.4 on my iphone and Big Sur 11.2.1 on a new M1 MBP. Have previously been successful sending MMS/SMS to an Android user but this morning I get "Cannot Send Message , MMS needs to be enabled". IT IS ENABLED.

I have followed all the steps I've been able to discern from the many sites that address this issue but with no success. (turning off, turning on, restarting,). Any advice appreciated.

Hello twmissmt,

It sounds as though you're having issues sending and receiving SMS and MMS messages on your Mac. Continuity features such as text message forwarding are great features, and you've come to a great place for assistance. We're glad you had the chance to verify that MMS is enabled. Have you verified the continuity settings on your Mac? If not, we do recommend verifying those settings as well. You can find the steps for doing so outlined in the following article.

How to forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your iPad, iPod touch or Mac

Have a great day.

Thank you. Yes, that is all pretty rudimentary/elementary/basic information. My issue apparently is that I lose those stated abilities even though my settings are correctly in place. Since my initial inquiry I have found that I need to go through the sequence of setting everything up from scratch again each time I lose the ability to send SMS/MMS, AND in the proper sequence in order to see a return of function. My concern now is why do I lose that ability even though the settings are in place? Here is the sequence I've had to repeat each time Messages stops working.
