Am I able to have my iPad fixed free of charge?

Hello,

As I was studying I noticed a small crack in the lower left corner of my iPad Pro (11 inch), and I am unsure how it got there as I I take really good care of my product.

I checked and apple says I am still eligible for warranty and my repairs and coverage service is active. Does this mean I can have my iPad screen fixed free of charge? If so, do I just take it to my local phone/computer store to be fixed with proof of my apple warranty, or do I need to visit an actual apple store?

I use my iPad for uni so shipping it off would be a bit of a fuss but if I can’t do either of the above then I will consider shipping.

Thank you in advance!

To be clear, your one year Apple limited warranty does not cover accidental or screen damage - unless you can prove that screen damage is due to a manufacturing defect.

If you purchased the optional AppleCare+ cover (this being an insurance product), you can use one of your two “incidents” to exchange a damaged iPad for a refurbished iPad of the same model and specification. Being an insurance product, claims under AppleCare+ incur and small excess/deductible charge.

Out-of-warranty exchange for a damaged screen is certainly possible, but will cost c.60% of the “as new” price of the iPad.
