"Sound Pending" when trying to find an airpod pro

I have lost my left airpod. When I attempted to have the find my app ping and make a sound on the airpods, I get a "sound pending" and then nothing. I have the right airpod connected to my phone and in my hand. I get...nothing from the right one.

At this point, the left one has lost its charge as I can't see it in my devices widget anymore. But, it doesn't explain why I cannot get the right pod to make a noise. It's on the map, it says it's connected and yet...nothing! It's extremely frustrating given that I can't go to a store to see if there's a hardware issue with them due to the local shelter in place regulations.

Anyone get the chirping sound to work? I've train unpairing and pairing them again and nothing. I don't know what to do anymore. If this find my doesn't work on these headphones, I'll have to move away from these products. The pods are tiny and if I can't have them call out to me, it's kind of useless to claim to have that feature.

The Airpod has to be connected to the iphone by bluetooth for you to track it or play a sound.

If it's not connected, you can't track it or play a sound.
