Touch ID sensor M1 Macbook pro

Anyone experiencing touch id sensor not working unless the palm of your hand is resting on the macbook?

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. It looks like you have a question about your MacBook Pro M1 and Touch ID.


You shouldn’t have to rest your palm on the Mac to use Touch ID. Have you tried deleting your fingerprint and setting it back up again, making sure your palm isn’t touching while setting up Touch ID?

Hello Leanne,

I already deleted the fingerprint and couldn't register again without letting my palm touch the body of the macbook pro. I have a macbook pro 2017 and never had this problem... i am have this issue with the new M1 i bought a couple of months ago. Now it is working even though i did nothing...

I will keep on monitoring the problem trying to understand what would be the cause of the problem.
