get menus popping up every time I click on any part of the screen

Today I was working with an online grocery store and suddenly, no matter where I clicked, a menu would open listing various options. When I clicked in the address bar to go to another Website, another menu opened. I just installed a Synology router last Friday and connect an external drive to it to back up 2 computers to 2 different volumes on the disk. Could this have created a conflict somehow? Can anyone help diagnose this problem. Obviously, the problem disappeared after about 45 minutes and my Mac is back to normal.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Were they contextual menus popping up? It could have been your control key was stuck down (or something telling the system that the control key was pressed).

Wow! Holding down the control key and clicking anywhere on the screen reproduced my problem. Thank you soooo much. I thought I might have spyware or a hacker controlling my computer. I had a ZOHO incident just last week and am trying to recover from that. Thanks again.
