With earlier versions of Mac Mail, after searching for messages the search results showed which folder a message was stored in. However, with Big Sur (11.2.2) I cannot figure out how to show the folder where the message is stored. I can see From, Subject, Date Received and messages size, but not location. Is there a way to show that information?

Boot into Safe Mode by booting with the Shift key held down and check there to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.
NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing the following;
• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed
• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)
• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically
• Disables user-installed fonts
• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files
Thanks for the suggestion. I booted into Safe Mode, and saw no change, and restarted.
In column view, when I search for some text, if I select "All inboxes", I see the folder information. If I select "All Mailboxes" I do NOT see the mailboxes. This is not so helpful, as I want to know if the message is in the Trash, or has been filed away somewhere. If I search a particular mailbox, the folder information doesn't show, but that isn't so important. This may have been the behavior before booting into Safe Mode and then restarting.
Are you saying that Mac Mail Version 14.0 (3654.60.0.2.21) _should_ show the message folders as part of the column display, and that this is a problem peculiar to my machine?
I don't know how you have your Mail setup to view emails but the location is shown in my list of emails:
When clicked on one of these the full email shows in the pane at the right.
