It is for months now, as from getting my 11 that sporadically I have to re-sign in again.. Message "update Apple ID - upon entering message "verification failed - unknow error occurred.
Going through the whole security questions issue only to get the same reaction.
I do it daily and the all of a sudden it takes the password and work for a couple of days only to do it again.
I have restarted, update and whatever but problem keep on coming back.

No, this is not the issue.
Brand new 11 phone, works perfectly but at least twice a month it requires "Update apple ID settings" - then I am for day's unsuccessful as it keep on giving the same message " "Verification failed - unknow error occurred" - that is the issue.

If you are not the owner and do not have the Apple ID and Password then there is no way that you can get into this iPhone unless the original owner shares the Apple ID and password with you. If you are lucky you can get into this iPhone if they (owner) accidentally remove the device from their apple ID.
