I changed my mobile number for the 1st time in 20 years, how do text all my contacts at once to let the know my new number?

There is no direct way to text everyone at once on your iPhone. Besides, I wouldn't advise you to create a massive group of contacts to text. You are probably better off sending one email with all email addresses in the Bcc: column (for privacy). Even easier to do from a computer for this task.
