iPhone aol email account

What would cause me to know longer be able move aol emails to the junk folder in that account on my 2020 iPhone SE? I have deleted and added the account and aol says it is an Apple problem as another aol email account operates as it should on this phone.

There is no option to Remove the sender from the spam messages. Tapping either the 'edit' button or on the actual email to identify it as spam will not take the email to the spam folder I assume because the under the email account folders the junk and drafts folders are in gray whereas all other folders are in black. Emails cannot be moved to either of those gray folders either by tapping edit for that message or swiping left to 'more' and trying to send the emails to spam. The emails can be flagged and sent to trash but not identified as spam so I am getting several spam emails apparently from the same sender.
