My iPhone 12 often turns off the screen by itself multiple times during Candy Crush or running an App, restarting the phone does not solve the issue. I don't think that's an hardware issue. Very annoying.

The screen will turn off and the phone will lock if you don’t touch it for a settable period of time (Settings/Display & Brightness/Auto-Lock). It should not shut off when you are using the phone, except if you are on a phone call and you hold the phone to your face.
I should have pointed out that my phone did not have this problem until after iOS 14.4 update.
