Numbers Add Column greyed out.

Why is the Add Column before and After greyed out, I am nowhere near 255 columns, have about 10 only, also the Freeze Cells is off. Just do not understand Numbers at all.

iOS is Mojave as I will not update to 64bit on the laptop.

Thanks

Very strange. Can't duplicate here.

But if you're running an old OS and you also have a document that has its origins on an OS even older, then gremlins sometimes appear.

Have you tried starting a new document and copy-pasting your data into it?

If that does not work you probably should contact Apple support. (As you are no doubt aware, participants in these forums are mostly users like you).

You might also try adding a column using the keyboard shortcut option-arrow.

  • option-left arrow to insert a column to the left of the selected cell
  • option-up to insert a row above the selected cell
  • etc.

If you select more than one cell in a group (say three columns of row 3 and press option-right arrow, Numbers will insert as many new columns as are selected.

This seems to be the only spreadsheet that it is happening on. I have checked and I do not have Freeze Headers on any column.

Now if I go to the columns that do not have data in, I can add a Column there. I even removed those blank columns, still the same on the 'filled' columns. It is obviously something I have activated or it is where it was set up in an OS that was about 4 generations back, but that shouldn't happen. Two screen shots added below.

Thanks
