The macOS Big Sur installer app is a whopping 12.24GBs in size.

Move the copy you have to the Trash, empty the Trash.

Connect your mac to your router via cable.

Restart your mac open your Safari browser and click on this link,

How to upgrade to macOS Big Sur - Apple Support

Go to Section 4 and click on Get macOS Big Sur.

This will redirect you to the App Store Big Sur download page

it should say Get or Download.

Do not use the mac while it is downloading and do not use any

other devices that share the same internet connection.
