I had the 2nd gen Apple set up on a new WiFi router. It kept dropping the connection, so reconfigured the WiFi router to Apple recommended settings.

rebooted both the router and Apple TV in that order. Several times, Sam error -100 incorrect WiFi password, but that hasn’t changed and it doesn’t give a place to change it on Apple TV. So unable to connect to network.

next we reset the Apple TV to factory using iTunes and a usb cable to computer. Factory reset didn’t remove the error message. It is still there. Huh? If went back to factory settings? No sense.

If your Wi-Fi router is set to use WPA3, then older Apple TVs are not compatible with that setting. Use WPA2 instead.
