Photos from iPod nano 3rd gen to pc

I have really valuable photos stored on my old iPod Nano 3rd generation but can’t find a way to transfer them to pc. I can’t view them on pc only see the folder and it gives me options like internet explorer and word to open them but not anything else. Photos app on pc- doesn’t detect the iPod. Please help me I am despairing!
