Macbook Air early 2014 and 2560*1440 on an external monitor

I trying to connect my LG QHD27QN880 27-inch monitor with native resolution 2560*1440 to my 13-inch Macbook Air early 2014 which should support this resolution. With HDMI and a Belkin 4k displayPort adapter but I can get only 1080p. The HDMI cable comes with the screen so I expect to be good enough for such resolution. The mac runs macOS Mojave 10.14.5. Any idea?
