Migration Assistant says it is moving 4.5 Million files. Why?!?!

I started the migration assistant for my wife's new MacBook Air over WIFI last night and it is still running when we woke up this the morning 10 hours later. It says it has moved over 4.5 million files. When my wife saw that she freaked and wants to stop the migration immediately because it is littering up her new computer.

Stupidly I didn't look that closely at all the checkboxes in the migration assistant and told it to move everything, but what are those things? How can there by 4.5 million files? Is there any way to back out of this and start again with less boxes checked?

It will move only what the old Mac had and no more. The file count is not just you specific files but also settings, preferences, etc. for all the programs. Also, you should only hardwire for migration and not use WIFi as that is slow and unreliable and can stall out the process. I would let it finish at this point. Worse scenario is you could erase and reinstall the OS and start the process over if it does not look correct at the end.
