I've entered my serial number and it says it's been replaced...

What on earth does this mean? It's asking me to find the replacement. I'm sat here with the phone in my hand. Makes absolutely no sense to me. All I would like to do is get the battery replaced, why is everything made so difficult?

Hello,

Where did you get the phone? Directly from Apple? Reseller? Second-hand?

If you received a message that you have a phone which was replaced it means someone requested a service replacement unit under warranty and then did not return their original phone and sold it instead. That device technically belongs to Apple and is stolen. As Bill said contact Apple Support and see if they can do anything for you.
