Dead watch
My series 2 watch is falling apart sadly. Scotch tape is working but not ideal. If I replace with a series 6 will my various watch straps still fit or am I forced to only replace with a series 3 if I want to keep my watch straps?

YES, The various watch straps you have that work for your Series 2 will work for the Series 6 as long as it is the same size watch.
38mm and 40mm watch faces use the same band
42mm and 44mm use the same band
What Size Watch Band Does My Watch Band Take
In the Watch app on your iPhone go to My Watch, then at the top of the page tap All Watches. You will see the entry for your watch, including the case size. This tells you which band size you need to order, for 38/40mm or 40/44 mm case.
