iPhone12 charge icon blinking on/off when charging from laptop

hello all. I plugged my iPhone12 into my Macbook Pro (2015 retina) via USB to charge. The charging icon keeps blinking on and off (charging/not charging). Also, if I open Music, the phone keeps appearing and disappearing from the device list.


I have tried 2 cables, one brand new. And I have tried both USB ports on the laptop.


If I plug the phone into a wall charger or battery pack, it works just fine.


Thoughts?



Macbook is latest Big Sur, iPhone is IOS14.4

Is your MacBook charging when this occurs or does anything change when connected to power? Are you using an Apple-certified cable? If you aren't sure, you can use the guidance from Identify counterfeit or uncertified Lightning connector accessories to check.


Also, try the troubleshooting from If your computer doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod which can help with connection issues.
