hello, i am trying to do a diagnostics on macbook pro 2018. But in the process I am shown to connect to wifi, the laptop connects to the network but nothing happens after that. it is connected to the network and has no other options

If the local Wi-Fi network is functioning as expected with other devices, and—if this is your network—the router rebooted, and this persists...


Contact Apple Support or your preferred local service provider and discuss your options.


If you still want to try further locally, build a bootable installer on another Mac, and see if that boots and works.

The metal skin is an integral part of the Mac cooling system. Blocking cooling can case slowdowns, hard shutdowns, and potentially permanent hardware damage.


Put differently, I’d avoid using a skin or a case on a running Mac—do you want an expensive and inert bit of modern metal sculpture in a skin, or do you want a functional and usable and stable computer?


What you’re describing here can be a hardware problem. Or a network problem. Or a fried-hardware problem. What the issue might be with loading hardware diagnostics is unclear. Loading macOS from separate storage—the previously-mentioned installer—can reduce the network usage, and can test basic function.

I am trying to do diagnostics because when I turn on the laptop, it starts no problem, loads normally and suddenly black screen! When I press the power button again, the laptop works normally. I took it to a service and they just cleaned it, they said that maybe it heats up because it's in a case ,and that's why the screen turns black. But they said there was no dust but since it's not an official service, they didn't want to see if it was a hardware problem. There is no official Apple store in my country. And the representative store does not answer emails and calls!
