I had an external hard drive connected to my mac. It is no longer connected but still shows in locations.

A restart of your Mac should fix the issue. If you've already done a restart, reset the PRAM: Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support.

Thanks Jack. It didn't work. Apple support couldn't fix it either. It is not hurting anything so I am not going to worry about it. Obviously, some memory location has stored the drive and it won't release it. Thanks for your help, it is much appreciated.
