Thanks! I have the new iMac M1 coming & I want to use the same Seagate Backup that I'm using now on my 2017 iMac. I remember having to Format my backup to the 2017 iMac & it saying it would delete all files on the backup. Is this still true in 2021? I want to continue using it on my new iMac coming...

UPDATE ~ It turns out the backup was able to plug right in & be used on my new iMac Air M1 because it was already formatted for my prior iMac Air. It didn't need to reformat again. (For those who may have this question in the future).

These days drives are cheap so just get a new drive for the new
MacNook Air.
