FCPX Nudging Stopped

Question

FCPX Nudging Stopped

FCPX I was able to nudge my clips but now all I get is a beep and I can't nudge them anymore. What have I done? I did use some transitions but I took them off and I still can't nudge. Is there a setting that locks everything??

Awesome! Thank you. This has happened before, and I knew it had to be simple because there were no discussions on this topic. I guess I was just lucky in where I was selecting the clips prior to this, as nudging is usually never an issue, then all of the sudden it just stops. Is the secondary storyline triggered by something, or is it always there? Anyway, such a relief to know why this was happening. :) 🙏

Can't help you without seeing what you're doing in the timeline. Perhaps you can change the timeline display to only show waveforms.

Please post a screenshot of the timeline showing what you're trying to nudge where. The Position tool will nudge anything, but be warned it will overwrite adjacent clips, not move them.

I can't publish the video unfortunately. I was nudging the clips last night. This morning all I get is a warning beep and nothing is moving.

As a small addition to what Tom said: you could also just make a small “dummy” project, see if it shows the same problem and post screenshots of that. You

You can't nudge the clip because it's in a secondary storyline container. If you select the shelf, the gray bar at the top of the clip, you can nudge the whole secondary storyline.

The secondary storyline is created when you add transitions. It’s the container that holds the clip or clips and the transitions together.
