Trying to reset iPhone 5s - error at no password in console

Trying to reset my very old iPhone 5s.

Forgot the last passcode.

Plugged into iMac.

iTunes says 'unable to connect to update server'

Tried advised console method to fix this issue.

My Mac has no password - in console, it asks for the account password - there isn't one.

When I hit enter it says 'incorrect password'

Need to get phone working for daughter.

Seems Apple doesn't like me using older kit.

Any fixes?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13

Hi,

I have the Apple ID and password for the account abs the phone is still asking for my passcode.

thing is I’ve tried the 5 possible codes I can remember using abs it doesn’t like any of them.

i’m trying to restore but iTunes says ‘cannot connect to update server’ on both my old iMac and new MacBook Air.

It seems apple simply won’t allow the process of restore to work on the older device.

I tried to begin the exact same process on my iPhone 10 and iTunes began the restore process fine.
