Why does CarPlay gps not move from my last location?

When I go to one of my frequently visited locations and try to get navigation to somewhere else it stays at that location instead of moving with the car. For example if I park at my house and try to get directions somewhere I can be 4 miles away from my house and it doesn’t move. GPS works 100% of the time when not connected to CarPlay. The only thing I haven’t tried yet is unplugging the gps antenna on my CarPlay stereo. This is one of the most frustrating things I have ever encountered with apple. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
