Can't scan since BIG Sure

I GOT IT TO WORK.

I kept thinking about that recent printer update. I then found an article about a "secret" support menu on the HP printer that would allow you to do a Semi full reset...thereby setting it back to factor specs. So i did this. During set up i used mac only to make sure i got Airprint. And i told the printer NOT to auto update.

Then i was able to scan again via the printer menu. FURTHER i am now able to scan from Image Capture as well.

WHOOO HOOOO.

Posting in case this helps someone else. Beware of auto updating the firmware of printer!

Man i wish i had thought to post here before i wasted over an hour working on this last night. Literally installed this and opened it. It immediately found my printer. NOTHING TO DO. pressed PREVIEW and boom....perfect.

I tried both of them? Multiple times. Both before and after reinstalling HP software etc.

I just realized Vuescan isn't free. So while it works and that is great... it sucks to have to buy something for your higher end home HP printer to work. Unfortunate that the OS update isn't addressing this issue. Seems to be very prevalent and imo...very unacceptable to lose the ability to scan.

Any other items u did to get those methods to work?

Interesting. Well based on my searches last night I am not the only one that couldn't get that to work. Must be some other setting or something that is preventing it I removed all hp software/drivers via the uninstall HP app...but then I think airprint wasnt a listed option? I'm trying to remember.

I literally tried again. Removed any HP drivers /software. Then deleted printer .

Started over and added as Airprint.

No luck. I do know that my printer updated the other day. Maybe that did something.

I'm sorry but can u tell me how I would make that happen? I did pick airprint when I added the printer to my mac. Is that the spot u r referencing? Please?
