Migration to a new MacBook Air failed

Hello anyone,

I used Migration Assistant to move the files from my old MacBook to a new MacBook Air and after 6 hours it got stuck and it kept showing '4 minutes left' with nothing happening for over an hour and a half so I stopped the process with the intention to restart it later. Now I am trying to access the new MacBook Air but it doesn't recognize the password and locked me out for too many attempts, the password is definitely the proper one (the same one as the old Mac as it shows me the same old hint) , not sure how to proceed now. Can you please help as it is getting rather frustrating.

Thanks, Adel

Hi there Adel,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you weren’t able to complete your migration to a new MacBook and now you are unable to log in to the Mac. See how to reset the Mac password: Change or reset the password of a macOS user account.

Once you are signed in you can start data migration again: Move your content to a new Mac.

We hope this helps!
