Is there script(s) to toggle Rosetta on/off with an app?

first off, a year or so ago, I watched an episode from YouTube channel Snazzy Labs and am using hide/show desktop icon script made with Script Editor.

I purchased M1 Mac mini a week or so ago, and I'm running Adobe Photoshop to edit my photos. Photoshop was recently updated to support the Apple silicon, which was great, until I realized third party plug-ins were not compatible.

Saw some other YouTube and got around plug-in(s) incompatibility issue by running Apple silicon compatible version of Photoshop with Rosetta 2, by going to Photoshop install path, "Get info" and checking/unchecking "open using rosetta".

Now, it's not very efficient nor elegant solution and am no code savvy to whip something up out of thin air to make my life easier.

I know, I just got to wait for the 3rd party plug-in developers to roll out Apple silicon compatible versions while I use Photoshop under rosetta translation, but this is where my "Most up to date" OCD kicked in and I just couldn't help it.

Is there anyway to simplify this procedure then "Get info" and check/uncheck "open using rosetta" with help of script editor?

Any help, or comment would be greatly appreciated.

many thx in advance :)

The Info window for universal apps includes the setting “Open using Rosetta.” It enables email apps, web browsers, and other apps to use add-ons that haven't been updated to support Apple silicon. If an app doesn't recognize a plug-in, extension, or other add-on, quit the app, select this setting, and try again.

holly smokes

this worked, albeit at the expense of 4GB of my SSD space.

But still, this worked!

and for some weird reason, Photoshop is running simultaneously, which isn't supposed to.

I remember vaguely Adobe wouldn't allow you to run two instances at once even with the different versions (i.e. 21.2 vs 22.1).

not exactly the answer I was looking for, but I guess this is as good as any answer at this point.

Thx for the suggestion!

well...that's what I've been doing and don't really know why you're stating this again? did you even read the post? (no offense, really curious whether you read or not)

What I'm looking for is easier way, some sort of toggle script that I can place on the dock and just click to run Photoshop on rosetta, or not. I'm sick and tired of going into the specific folder, bring up the "info window" and check/uncheck "open using rosetta" everytime I need plug-ins.

Is there script(s) to toggle Rosetta on/off with an app?
