Mail preview with MS Exchange

Hi,

after migration to MS Exchange mail server, I have problem with mail preview when using apple mail client. Simple mail preview does not show up. Also trying to forward such mail I see system is tying to download content and some times succeed .. but not always. This is not a case with MS Outlook mail client.

Any suggestion, how to solve it ?

Regards, Artur

Hi ArturK_PL,

What happens if you change your preview? For example, if you choose View > Show Side Preview or Choose View > Show Bottom Preview is there any change if you switch those views? This will tell us if it's only one view or both.

Also, do you have any additional email addresses in the Mail App? If so, are they having the same issue or working as expected? We're asking so that we can see if the issue occurs with multiple addresses.

Best!

Hi ArturK_PL,

It sounds like you can't see a preview of messages in the Mail App since changing to a different server and sometimes mail doesn't download. We're glad you've joined us in Apple Support Communities, and we can provide some assistance.

Do you ever see the status as Network Offline? Since both issues seem related to the speed at which your email is downloading to the app, let's follow the steps in If you can’t send or receive email on your Mac. The troubleshooting in this link has the most frequent solutions to when mail is delayed or you can't get email at all.

We hope that helps with your question and take care!

Hi ArturK_PL,

Have you removed and added the email address back in accounts? Check out the instructions in Add or remove email accounts in Mail on Mac. Sometimes when features aren't working with mail, removing and adding the account back can help.

If the issue continues after that step, then let us know what happens when you double click on the message (not in preview) does the content load? We ask to see if the issue is only in preview or when you open the message.

Cheers!

Thx for help. Switch review from side to bottom is not helping - no change. I do have only one account in Mail App so no chance to compare. When I do mailbox rebuild then for some mails I can see improvement (see content in preview) but not for all of them. When forwarding or replaying to mails - usually mail content is loaded fully ... but also not in 100% cases.

Hi,

thx for replay.

Interesting mail client behaviour ... I have observed, that when pre-view is not available opening mail is not helping as well - content is not visible. Sometimes, looks like situation is improving (probably in background client loading content) and content become visible in pre-view. But also has observed opposite situation - I can see pre-view but when opening mail - content is not visible. Strange, isn't it ?

Will remove and add mail account as you suggest latter today.

Thx, Artur
