MacBook Pro 13inch 2017 flexgate issue

Hi

My MacBook Pro 13inch 2017 which was bought on August 2017 has an issue with its display when the screen is full opened. After a particular angle while opening it the display completely goes off but it is perfectly working until a particular angle. When I took it to an apple authorised service centre they told it is because of the short flexgate cable attached to the display and many users of 2016 and 2017 MacBook Pro 13inch has the same issue but apple is only fixing it free off cost for 2016 models and not for 2017 models which has the same length flexgate cable as of 2016 models. Does anyone has the same issue?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.14

The issue does occur in later 2017+ models as well although I find it occurs much less often than it does with the 2016 model. Unfortunately Apple doesn't care and won't admit to the poor design. If you want a fully working laptop you will either have to pay for the repair or purchase another laptop. Since this laptop is now four years old it is highly unlikely Apple will ever offer a free repair program for this issue since most free repair programs only cover issues for up to three or four years. Apple of the last ten years is much less likely to be concerned with individual user complaints. Years ago Apple was very good about addressing individual complaints by providing repair exceptions to provide free repairs on a case by case basis. Apple even instituted a free repair program for a very limited manufacturing defect which I had brought to their attention regarding a G3 Mac.

You can try to contact Apple corporate to report the issue and voice your displeasure. You can also provide product feedback here:
