MacBook Air 2017 shuts down unexpectedly and then shows low battery indicator

Recently my MacBook Air 2017 13,3 inch Core i5 has been shutting down unexpectedly at whatever percentage (even above 85%) and when I try to turn it back on, it shows the low battery indicator, asking me to plug the charger, and when I do, it turns on and shows the exact same battery percentage as before (i.e. it might shutdown at 89% and ask for the charger to be plugged and when plugged in, it turns on and shows the same 89% and charging). I'm worried it might be a battery problem that needs to be replaced... Is there another way to fix this issue? Thank you in advance!

Heya,

That does sound like a problem with the battery. What does system information show about your battery?

This is my own 2017 Air's information about it's battery. 17 cycles and normal condition.

You can find it by clicking on the Apple icon in the menu bar. Then select About this Mac. And select System Information. I have to translate this since I'm using the Dutch language on my Mac :)

Then select Hardware -> Power.
