Anyone know how to get back CD/DVD icons in Big Sur? Ever since upgrading to it I can access the discs but the icons are missing as you can see in the attached screenshot.

Check Finder Preferences and enable desired or missing external drives to appear on Desktop
It isn't a preferences issue since DVDs and CDs show icons but blank blu-rays for data storage or blu-ray movies don't. Looks like Apple programmers forgot to give UDF (Universal Disk Format) disks a default icon. Considering Apple joined the Blu-ray Disc Association Board in 2005 this seems like a dumb oversight.
