waze stops talking with carplay

Every time My iPhone is connected to the car play Waze goes Mute, once it's back to my iPhone I can hear Waze instructions again. What can be done to be able to hear Waze instructions on my Car audio?

Carplay not connecting properly (brings up car’s mic) I have a 2021 rav4 hybrid XLE premium with premium JBL sound system and almost every time I try to connect my iPhone using CarPlay I get a mic symbol on my dashboard. I read somewhere that it could be a setting regarding mic access on my phone, which I already disabled and did not solve the issue. Any thoughts?

CarPlay defaults to Phone Call Whenever I connect my iPhone 12 ProMax to wired Car Play, I get no audio from the car or iPhone. When I try to adjust the volume, the car’s display says “adjusting phone volume” even though no phone call is active. So apparently CarPlay thinks that there is an active call even though there is none. I have to restart the iPhone while connected to CarPlay; then it works as expected. But the next time I reconnect to CarPlay, the same thing happens. I have to restart the phone every time. It worked fine until yesterday, when this started happening.

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help with Waze and CarPlay. As we understand, the app is muted when connected.

We'd advise following these steps for Waze: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open.

In addition, you can also "Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again."

If the issue continues, you may need to contact the app developer: How to contact an app developer.
