Youtube Not Working on Apple TV 4K
First time asker, long time reader of questions...
So I have been watching a lot of Youtube clips on my Apple TV 4K without any trouble for the past year or so. Two nights ago, I went to the Youtube app and saw some new preview clips from channels that I follow and clicked to watch the videos. Instead of playing the video, I get a black screen with a side bar that's titled "Something Went Wrong" with selection buttons for reporting the problem and a QR code to scan. I have submitted the error report several times, as well as the following:
1) Deleted and reinstalled the Youtube app, both with and without a restart of the Apple TV
2) Verified my hardware is up to date
3) Closed all applications running in background, deleted and installed Youtube after restart of Apple TV.
I haven't reset the Apple TV because honestly, I don't want to deal with reloading everything, but at the same time it seems like everything I'm trying is not working so I may try that next. It's not a network issue because I can load YouTube videos on my iPad standing next to the Apple TV and watch those just fine. I know...problem solved, I can just watch the videos on my iPad, but sometimes I just like to watch things on the big @$$ TV! I've checked and rechecked my network speeds and everything is running beautifully. I've also checked this on another Apple TV 4K in my house in a different location and it is having the same issue. So it appears to be a Youtube app/Apple TV 4K issue at the moment (I keep emphasizing these are the 4k Apple TVs because I am aware Youtube is no longer supporting the app on 3rd generation Apple TVs...which is all I can seem to find info on in my google searches).
So in this very long way of getting to my actual question to you (who are WAY more versed in troubleshooting these types of issues than "Just turn it off and try it again" me)....have you encountered this and what is the workaround?
