Apple Music draining data when not in use

Last week we noticed that my Apple Music had gone through 10 GB of data overnight while I was sleeping! I’ve been tracking the data of my Apple Music app over the last week and it has been using 2 GB a day even though I am not using Apple Music, and my Wi-Fi connection is on and available. We are going through data like crazy, I cannot figure out why this is happening as I haven’t changed any settings and I am not even listening to music. We turned off cellular data for the app and this morning 2 more Gigs were used by Apple Music (I did not stream or download any music !) this is robbery. Please help me or I am going to discontinue Apple Music.

iPhone SE, iOS 10

Hello Makindye,

It sounds as though you have cellular data disabled for Music, but still seeing data being used on your iPhone. To clarify a bit further are you seeing this usage in Settings > Cellular Data, or elsewhere?

Since noticing this usage have you verified that Music is closed, or not runing in the background. If not, you can close apps using the steps in the following article.

Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch

You can also confirm that Background App Refresh is disabled in Settings > General > Background App Refresh.

Have a great day.
