Using Apple TV on new LG OLED TV

I recently bought an iPhone 12 Pro which has a promotion giving me a year of free Apple TV+.

I also just bought an LG OLED UHD TV which has the Apple TV app already on it.

When I bring up the app on the TV and select a show to watch, it asks me to click on "start free trial", and indicates I'll get 7 days free after which I'll be charged $4.99/month.

How do I get the app on my LG TV to recognize that I have a paid 1 year subscription to Apple TV?

The Apple TV app on your smart TV will recognize your subscription(s) after you sign in to the app with the Apple ID account that has the subscription. The in-app Settings to sign in are represented by the sprockets wheel icon in the tab bar at the top.
