I bought a new iPhone 11 and got a 1 year free subscription to Apple TV+.
I's like to watch shows on my smart Sony TV. I suppose I can cast shows from my iPhone to the TV, but how can I get the TV to understand that I have a subscription.
When I go the TV Home page and select the Apple TV App, it asks me if I want to start a free 7 day free trial (after which I start paying $4.99). Since I already have a free 1 year trial, I don't want to do that.
Any suggestions?
That's exactly what I was referring to. You need to go into the settings via the app on your Samsing TV and make sure you are signed in with the same ID used to claim the offer on your phone. Then you would have access to that content directly in that app as opposed to having to use airplay from your phone.
The fact that the 7 day trial appears indicates that it is not signed in or is using a different ID to which the subscription/offer is tied to.

Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID used to claim the offer on the phone. If it persists contact Apple support.
OK...I can get Apple TV+ shows to play on my Sony Bravia TV by starting the show on my iPhone, entering the code that comes up on the TV, and then it play on the TV.
What I was hoping to do was to simply use my TV Remote to navigate to the Apple TV+ App and select the show right there (instead of having to initiate everything from my iPhone).
It's not a big deal to do it that way, but my initial question was "How do I get my Sony TV to "know" that I already have an Apple TV+ subscription?

Within the app you would be going into the settings to initiate the log in, refer to the link for more details

Hmmm...that's the problem.
When I open the Apple TV App, there's no place to Log In (perhaps I'm already logged in??).
The only option available is to choose the 7 day free trial.
