Kernel_task is not in Activity Monitor

I am using an M1 Macbook Air with OS 11.2.3. I want to monitor the process kernel_task but it is not displaying in Activity Monitor. I can see the process using top command in the terminal. I want to see the bytes written info, which I don't see using top. I can see kernal_task in Activity Monitor on my older Macbook Pro running the same OS. Anyone knows why I cannot see it in my MacBook Air?

Activity Monitor in macOS Catalina 10.15.7 When I try to glean any information from the Activity Monitor application in the latest version of Catalina, it only displays a column of process names without any of the other columns selected via the View menu. How many processes is it normal to have in activity monitor? I have 10 apps open on my MacBook Pro m1 (5 are menu bar apps), but Activity Monitor is showing a ton of processes are active (Some are in the screenshot below). I was wondering if I need to do anything about that, or if it is normal to have that many processes.

cpu threads - kernel_task The activity monitor app on my MacBook Pro 13 inch, 2018 model, shows that the kernel_task is using 200+ threads, the next highest thread count is about 40. Is that too much and if so is there a way to fix it without damaging anything else?
