Can you restore a new Macbook Air from icloud backup of your old Macbook. My son's Macbook is broken, he has a new one but we don't want to lose what was on the old one.

I have not done a full restoration from iCloud to a Mac.
iTunes music, photos, documents and other stuff were all transferred.
Third party applications and data associated with it will need a Time Machine Backup.

I read the article but time machine wouldn't work as the old Macbook is broken so can't be connected to wifi
